The Fibersphere ...../- 12:

/- 12:

Then I wake to see
the shafts of dawn cut through the trees...but... I feel a tickle first
on my arm and then I see
nestled up to me
was a 9' Giga-pede!
millepedes enormously endowed
and quite unshy
It must have found me through the night
and chose to sleep beside.

"Dude, I think your cool
but could we go a little slow?
I'm already waking up to you
and your name I still dont know!"
I say in silence to myself,
frozen still in shock,
not wanting to startle him
or somehow piss him off
I think he is asleep
(him or her, who can say?)
and steathily I carefully
slide silently away
and breathing with relief
my pace, as quickly as I dare,
accelerates enough to generate
some noisy air
which awakes my giant insect,
nonetheless I couldn't wait,
Insecta-phobic urges killed my will to hesitate
Even though I knew a hot persuit would soon ensue
I couldn't get my stealth mode to comply (as fear will do)

Because you know these puppies are some longer than a car
And if they rear up on their hinds
They're taller than you are!
And yes we have the edge a bit on running straight flat-out
But he has home advantage,
I am running on his ground!
I'm running now full-tilt
and improvise some tree par cor
and pick the paths my persuer is not greatly suited for,

like ditches, trees, cliffs,
and leaves that cover sink hole traps { :) ! }
thankfully I see it first
and jump just clear of that...
he couldn't clear the hole,
and that's all there was to that,

"Kersplat. hee hee ha ha ho ho
kerspat le Giga-Pede
All he would've done is just complain about the weed.
Best we rid of him, as less we'll hear of him complain.

And anyway, mon fleur, that's more for us that will remain.
excerpt from Jettison the Sane, 3059

I narrowly myself avoid
buggy's sink-hole fall
By swinging out less wide, (but so quickly changing mind)
And nearly timing it all wrong
to gather up more speed
I saved my life unknowingly
as that hole was very deep.
So here's sincerest toast:
"to second chances in the dawn
Without exaggeration, my life, to them I owe it on"
