The Fibersphere .... /-10:

 /-10:

As the navy sky faded
to blacker moonless night
I allow my eyes to close
remembering our flight
and how it all began
from analog to digi-plight
with our species facing outcomes
no-one could've had in sight.
I left the building hastily
(the above ground part is small
but the stories go much deeper
than the Chrysler building tall)
atmospheric certainty
was way into arrears
under thicker oxygen
more radicals were feared
so we slowly tumbled downward
first to hide from satellites
than to hide from colder air
then continental forrest fires,
unchecked even by rain
breathing after hard as
most O2 consumed by flame,
depletion refilled hastily
to made ferocious winds
Was one of many impetii
that hastened our descent.
Perpetually dissatisfied when
cut-off from the trees,
we climbed deeper every year
and quickened our dis-ease.
We knew we had to anyway
as newer math had shown
the ice was coming soon and
we had nowhere left to go
Prior thinking said we had
5k years or so
but in 3098,
the temp would drop below
the lowest records ever seen
and 20 meteres worth of snow.
The climate models failed
predicting newly frozen land
and now survival took the form
of everyone at hand
keeping warm, whatever form
whatever way then can.
